Hey Folks,
Well, yesterday (on Dean’s recommendation) I read the first 300+ pages of Patterson’s “Along Came a Spider.” I think it’s the first of his Alex Cross series. This morning I read the last 130 pages.
It held my attention, but it wasn’t particularly well written. Several annoying “little” things kept me from being able to become deeply involved in the story. Things that involuntarily jump out at the reader like a really bad spelling error.
He did use some of the pacing “tricks” I recently taught in a seminar, but surprisingly few of the grounding techniques.
Of course, Patterson’s true expertise is in marketing, and this book was a #1 Bestseller. Go figure.

Around 10 a.m. I realized I hadn’t seen my kitten for an hour or so. She isn’t the sort to wander off, but I’m hoping that’s exactly what she did. It’s after 1 p.m. and I can’t find her.
This might be the last blog post for awhile.

I’m going to post this, then start the search again.
UPDATE: I finally found my little heart just shy of 3 p.m. She was under my bed when I got back from my fifth trip to search for her. When the time comes, I sure hope I go before she does. I’m pretty sure I can’t handle it.
I realize I could as easily just delete all the stuff above this, but you want it warts and all, right? There y’go.
Whew. Now I should be back tomorrow.
