Got a Good Start
Okay. Back in the day, driving a few t-posts, digging two 3-feet-deep postholes, building a new gate, stringing and tying up roughly 80 feet of fence, and taking out an old fence would have taken maybe all of a six- or eight-hour day.
Yesterday morning, including measuring and remeasuring distances between t-posts, placing six of them, and driving three of them took close to three hours.
Then I was back in the Hovel under the air conditioner and drinking Gatorade. It was cool enough in the early evening to finish planting t-posts, but I was tired. So I’ll go do that and maybe dig the two postholes for the new gate this morning after the sun comes up.
A New Short Story
“The Incredible Crystal Rae” went live Friday at 10 a.m. on my Stanbrough Writes Substack. This is a short story from the Blackwell Ops world. Go check it out. It’s free.
If you enjoy the story, please click Like. Comments are welcome too. Both help with my Substack algorithms. Then tell Everyone else.
Bradbury Reminder
Today is Saturday. Just a reminder to get your Bradbury Challenge story info in to me before the Journal goes live on Monday.
Remember, if you finish a story earlier in the week, you can send the info to me early too. It never hurts to avoid pushing the deadline.
Talk with you again soon.
