Quote of the Day

“The most singular difference between happiness and joy is that happiness is a solid and joy a liquid.” JD Salinger

A Little More on Spreadsheets

I failed to mention yesterday that I have an actual a sample spreadsheet with the formulas in place that you can request if you want it.

I created it a little over a year ago, and also wrote an explanatory note to accompany it.

If anyone would like that, you only have to email me at harveystanbrough@gmail.com.

A Little More on D2D

I also failed to mention, when I posted a segment touting the benefits of publishing through Draft2Digital a few days ago, that D2D’s partners (Kobo, Apple, Hoopla, and a dozen or so others) regularly offer sales in which you can enroll your books.

If you’re signed up with D2D, you’ll receive emails announcing those sales and a link to sign up.

For just two examples, currently there are

  • “Kobo’s February Long Weekend 2026 Promo” (runs Feb 12–18) and
  • the “Smashwords What the Heart Wants 2026” sale (runs Feb 1–28).

Despite the title of those sales, no particular genre is required.

Of course, your book has to be published with the partner through D2D if you want to take part in the sale.

But even if you’ve uploaded nothing to D2D, just having an account gets you access to their newsletter, The Indie Advantage: Tools & Tips to Maximize Your Publishing Potential.

The Indie Advantage provides so much good information that I once emailed D2D to ask whether I could share a link to it in TNDJ.

D2D wrote back to say there was no link to share, that the newsletter is available only by email. But to receive those emails you must have a D2D account.

The most recent Indie Advantage contained articles on

  • 2025 Highlights
  • What’s News (re D2D’s distribution partners)
  • A listing of links to recent and upcoming Self-Publishing Insider episodes, and
  • Indie Bestseller Lists

To sign up for an account or to explore D2D, click Draft2Digital.

Disclaimer: Just to be clear, I am not a D2D associate or anything like that. I don’t receive any kind of payment from D2D for referrals. Signing up for a D2D account is just a really good idea.

My Own Valentine Sale

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I’m offering the 7-volume Blackwell Ops Soleada Garcia Subseries (omnibus) for 40% off from now through the end of February.

This is an excellent introduction to the Blackwell Ops world. It’s loaded with action and psychological suspense, but it’s also a pure love story.

To get the 7-volume subseries for only $14.40 (regular discount price $24),

That’s it. Enjoy!

Talk with you again soon.

Of Interest

Taylor Sheridan’s University of Texas 2025 Commencement Speech I wish I’d heard this a few decades ago. If you don’t know, Taylor Sheridan is the genius (IMHO) behind Yellowstone, Landman, and other shows.

English Enjoyed A short video.
