Quotes of the Day

“When you can make your reader forget they’re reading a made-up story, you’ve struck gold. … Believability is all in the details.” Janice Hardy (First item, Of Interest)

“I found myself deleting paragraphs I had spent a long time writing, not because I had written them poorly, but because they had become unnecessary. Once I started paying attention to what my characters noticed, those details began carrying the emotional weight on their own.” Susan Watts (Second item, Of Interest)

A Quick Note to Say Thank You

I’m pleasantly astounded by the generosity of the TNDJ writers’ community.

To all of you who responded to my note in Monday’s issue of TNDJ with either a financial donation or by sharing the GoFundMe link on your social media outlets or otherwise, a heart-felt thank you.

However, only two of the several writers who donated financially requested copyedits and/or a free copy of my Author Intrusion book along with their donation.

If you made a financial donation and would like to take advantage of my offer in the future, the offer stands.

By the way, if you donated financially but unintentionally “tipped” Go Fund Me, that tip is fully refundable. Just fill out this form.

Finally, I know not everyone reads TNDJ every day. So In case you missed the plea and the offer, here it is again:

Stage 4 Breast Cancer

My son has a friend who is almost like another son to me. Now his young wife is battling Stage 4 breast cancer. She’s been fighting the good fight since being diagnosed in 2024 with Stage 2.

But the damned nasty thing came raging back.

Both my young friend and his adult daughter are taking a hiatus from their jobs to be with their wife and mom. ANY amount you can give will help cover the mounting costs of treatment, medications, and aftercare.

If you are able to donate financially, please visit this link: Help My Mom… at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-my-mom-fight-stage-4-breast-cancer-bs4d4.

To add value, for every dollar you give, I’ll gladly copyedit 100 words of your manuscript. So for example, a $20 donation would get you a 2,000 word copyedit. For a $50 donation, I’ll copy edit up to 5,000 words, and for $100, up to 10,000 words.

This applies to any short or long fiction, including works in progress.

Just send me a screen shot (or forward the email) of the receipt you receive from GoFundMe, and attach your manuscript in a Word-compatible format (.doc, .docx, .rtf).

If you are unable to give anything financially, please at least consider sharing the link after “Help my mom…” above or share this post.

Thank you.

Talk with you again soon.
