Quote of the Day
“Become so wrapped up in something that you forget to be afraid.” Lady Bird Johnson (Thanks to Carrie for the quote.)
Nothing
to talk about today other than the novel and you’re probably getting bored with that.
It didn’t wrap yesterday but it was a good day of writing and it will almost certainly wrap today unless something really strange happens.
So happy Friday and I’ll talk with you again tomorrow.
Oh, Today’s Friday
If you haven’t subscribed to Stanbrough Writes yet, you might stop by and subscribe to that.
You’ll get a free, very recent short story every week on Friday at 10 a.m. I think the one that’s next up later today is “Conspiracy to Commit.”
I honestly don’t remember what they were conspiring to commit, but it’s probably something good. I might reread it when it hits my inbox tomorrow morning.
And Also
If you want to learn about writing “long form” fiction (Yawn, Eyeroll) from me, there’s no better way than to check out my novels.
I strongly recommend you stop over at Your Morning Serial and subscribe there too. It’s still free, and I’ll begin posting the current novel there beginning on May 1. And for my money it’s the best one I’ve ever written (out of a hundred and some).
Finally
Also, if you’re at all new to TNDJ, you might want to skip down and read the last few paragraphs, down below the Numbers section. Lot of good stuff there.
Okay, so I guess I had a little bit of stuff to talk about after all, but not much really.
So this is kind of a self-promotion post I guess, but at least I’m not trying to upsell you on a lot of crap.
Of Interest
The Art of Adventure Covers This is a repeat because every writer should see it. Great cover design tips and you don’t have to use them only on pulp-noir type stuff. It’s that good.

Whatever you believe, unreasoning fear and the myths that outlining, revising, and rewriting will make your work better are lies. They will always slow your progress as a writer or stop you cold. I will never teach the myths on this blog.
Writing fiction should never be something that stresses you out. It should be fun. On this blog I teach Writing Into the Dark and adherence to Heinlein’s Rules. Because of WITD and because I endeavor to follow those Rules I am a prolific professional fiction writer. You can be too.
