Quote of the Day

“Write hard and clear about what hurts.” Ernest Hemingway

Correction

In Numbers, with the completion of the novel yesterday, I now have 6 novels on the year, so I’m on track to reach my annual goal of 24 novels by December 31.

TJ Blackwell: The Origin Story is also my 88th overall novel since October 19, 2014.

A New Short Story

“Ice Scream” went live yesterday on my Stanbrough Writes Substack. Go! Read! It’s free!

But be advised, this is nothing short of a true horror story. A friend said it should carry a “warning for women as it stomps on our basic fears.” So be forewarned.

Bonus tip: This short story is also the opening for the novel Jonah Peach. Read the Description.

You can get it anywhere ebooks are sold for $5.99, or you can get it from STP for only $5.

I love writing the psychology of my characters. It’s slow writing and much cycling, but it really pulls readers into the scene and the character.

Reminder

Youi guys in the Bradbury Challenge be sure to get your story info in before the Journal goes live on Monday morning (so vaguesly, by Sunday at midnight).

PayHip Etc.

My buddy Vin Zandri reports that “setting up payhip is almost too easy.” And Vin has far more IP than I do, at least in novels. Of course, he’s also about 20 years younger than I am. So more energy, and all that. (grin)

I’ll set up my PayHip account today, then run a test with a fiction and a nonfiction.

I’m also looking at both BookFunnel (prices start at $20 per year) and Story Origin (prices start at Free). It’s gonna be another rough day, mentally. I easily get overwhelmed comparing things like this. Anyway, if I learn anything I think might be useful, I’ll do another “Marketing” post soon.

Yesterday

I spent the whole day (well, after the sun came up) carrying light to medium to heavy stuff out of the middle bay here at chez Stanbrough and putting it into a trailer. Reminds me of why I’m glad my primary job is writing fiction. (grin)

The trailer is my neighbor’s, and whoever owned it before him turned the ramp into a gate, so I also got a lot of unwanted practice at stepping up and stepping down.

My bride, who enjoys doing guy stuff, helped. At the end of the day we were both covered with fine dust and rat shtuff. Very romantic. (grin)

I’ll talk with you again soon.
