My Quote of the Day
“The fiction writer’s only role is to convey the story, not to comment on it.”
Another Quote of the Day
“Set your goal, write your words, and encourage each other. A rising tide lifts all boats.” Craig Martelle
Update on the Mistakes Book
I’ve pretty well decided to call my nonfiction work in progress “Author Intrusion: A Writerly Sin.” The logline will be “How Fiction Writers Kill Their Own Work.”
I had planned to post the introduction today, but I’m still working on it, trying to pare it down a bit.
Now and then I find myself including something in the intro that would be better placed in the appropriate chapter.
So naturally (the way my mind works) I skip to a different document and add that bit to that chapter. Sometimes I stay in that chapter if a thought occurs or an appropriate example springs to mind. I like to jot it down while I have it.
Then I go back to the intro and start reading it over again from the beginning, making little tweaks as I go.
So it’ll be another day or three before I post the intro. The good news is, once that’s posted and I start plowing through the individual chapters, I should be able to post a new one every two to three days.
Craig Martelle
Anyway, that’s the update and I wrote it mostly so I could pass along the info on Craig Martelle’s “Successful Indie Author Challenge” in Of Interest. (Thanks, Tiffanie!)
Martelle offers two ‘big’ challenges annually, one in May and one in November, and somehow May’s already just around the corner.
I’ll be back soon with “Author Intrusion: An Introduction.” Talk with you then.
