Chopped Livah
The new newsletter—Chopped Livah—has moved right along. In fact, I’ve finished writing the first issue. I only have to cycle back over it.
Chopped Livah replaces the Craft of Writing mentorships I was going to offer so I can get the information out to more writers.
Each week, subscribers to Chopped Livah will receive specific, in-depth, how-to fiction writing instruction for every type of scene in any short story or novel that I’ve ever read or written:
- The Opening Scene,
- The Transition Scene,
- The High-Tension Scene,
- The Rest Scene,
- The High-Action Scene, and
- The Ending and Denouement Scene.
In Chopped Livah there won’t be any Quote of the Day or Of Interest or any frills like that. Just down deep and gritty writing instruction.
And of course subscribers can leave comments, ask questions, etc. As anyone who’s seen a picture of me can attest, I’m all ears.
Everyone who’s currently subscribed to TNDJ will receive the free introductory issue on Sunday, September 20. If you find the information useful, you can subscribe to Chopped Livah here.

All future issues will go out only to Chopped Livah subscribers.
Free subscribers to Chopped Livah will receive a “default” or short preview, then be prompted to purchase a paid subscription.
The cost of a paid subscription to Chopped Livah is $12 per month or $132 per year (one month free). Not too shabby for an all-inclusive writing mentorship with weekly installments and all the how-to instruction you’ll receive.
Why weekly?
Honestly, because that’ll give me time to be sure I’ve covered everything I want to cover in each post.
But it’ll also give subscribers time to read, re-read, absorb, and practice the information and ask any questions that might occur to them. I’m in this for the long game.

Words to Avoid in Writing: Weak Words to Find, Cut, & Replace I seem to remember talking about this a few times in TNDJ. Sense verbs, anyone?
