The Bradbury Challenge Writers Reporting

To take part, write at least one short story per week (or add to your novel), then submit the story title, word count, and genre to me each week for publication in the Journal on Monday.

The whole point is to have fun and grow as a writer. You can join or rejoin the challenge at any time. There’s no cost. Of course, you can also do the Challenge on your own, without reporting numbers to me or anyone else.

During the past week, in addition to whatever other fiction they’re writing, the following writers reported their progress:

Short Fiction

  • Balázs Jámbor “Ghost shower” 5000 Weird Fantasy
  • George Kordonis “Out From The Rain” 8720 Supernatual Fantasy
  • Adam Kozak “Winter’s End” 2105 Fantasy
  • Christopher Ridge “Trick or Torture” horror 1800
  • Frank Theodat “Myth Styx: Only $9.95” 2838 Weird Rantasy

New Novel

Blackwell Ops 23: Buck Jackson will go live on Amazon and all other e-vendors on Friday, May 3. However, if you’re in a hurry or would like to get it for a dollar off, it’s also ready to be downloaded right now in epub or mobi.

To do that, visit StoneThread Publishing to read the description. Then if you want, you can buy the book for only $5 by clicking the Buy Direct and Save link toward the bottom of that page.

Other Stuff

Didn’t do any writing yesterday. Still recuperating from that air strike of a visit from the actual, live F-4 Phantom fighter pilot and weapons officer Russ Jones and Michael, his excellent a-gunner. 🙂

It was a blast.

So yesterday, I rearranged the plant nursery in the west end of the Hovel, toted the big table into storage and brought in a much smaller one for the plants that really like it here.

Then I adjusted the location of my in-Hovel WiFi thingy so my writing ‘puter can “see” it instead of having to crane its little neck trying to look around the corner of a 2-foot-thick dried-mud wall.

No idea why moving the thing didn’t occur to me earlier. Now maybe YouTube will go more smoothly and my signal won’t be interrupted every time a lizard burps. Other than that I cleaned up the Hovel a little bit and went with my bride to the grocery.

Wanna Meet and Greet?

I also made hotel etc. reservations to attend my high school reunion in June. The school is so small they have a reunion of all students, but only every two years, and I’ve never been.

If any of you live close enough to Tatum NM and you think you might wanna visit face to face for awhile, email me and I’ll send you more info.

That will also be a business trip (ahem, writable-offable on taxes) because a novel WILL occur as a result of the trip. And I’ll get to visit my kind’a homeland one more time. It’s all good.

YouTube

Oh, and I’ll be doing another Live from the Hovel broadcast soon (and from time to time) so if the notice pops up in your inbox with enough warning (and at a decent hour) stop by if you can. I might still do some more record-and-upload things too.

By the Way, I Do Requests

As I mentioned yesterday, if any of you want to submit a particular first or last name (not both, please) you’d like to see in an upcoming novel (Blackwell Ops or otherwise), email me to let me know.

And if the name is for Blackwell Ops, you can speficify whether you’d like the character to be POV character or a victim. Yeah, I do requests. (grin)

If I use the name you suggest, I’ll send you a free copy of the novel. In fact, I’ll even include you as another first reader if you’d like to see it early.

Okay, that’s probably more than enough stuff you didn’t wanna know for one day. I’m hoping to start a new novel today.

Talk with you again soon.
