Quotes of the Day

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” Louis L’Amour

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” Stephen King

Wow. Yesterday I did no writing to speak of, but I did develop a cover for the novel, which is now titled For the Good of the Galaxy | The First Nine Days. I also put it up on D2D and Amazon as a preorder to publish on June 1.

I also was very pleased to get two positive responses from three writers who said they’re interested in writing in the shared world. Way cool!

But one asked a couple of questions.

The first was when I plan to publish the book. As I said above, it will go live on June 1. However, I’ll send it (free) to any writers who plan to write in the shared world along with the reverse outline (character names, etc.) as soon as I submit the “clean” version to D2D and Amazon. I’m hoping that will be by mid-May.

The other question was whether I have a “timeline” for authors who are interested in writing in the shared world. In other words, will I expect your story/novella/novel by a particular time.

No, I don’t. It’s none of my business what (or how) you write or when you publish it. My only requirement is that you list in the front matter “Based on the novel For the Good of the Galaxy | The First Nine Days by Harvey Stanbrough” and a link back to the book page at StoneThread Publishing.

So yes, writers who write in the shared world will help market the genesis novel, but I don’t think that’s too much to ask. (grin)

Today I’ve already received feedback from one first reader, and I only sent him the manuscript yesterday!

He explained, “I thoroughly enjoyed both your story and the way you’ve written it. I couldn’t put it down, which is no doubt why I’m still up long past the point when I should have gone to bed.” All wonderful to hear, of course.

I’ll write something today. Meh. Losing yesterday to nonwriting things bugs me. At present I’m wondering whether to dive into the next part of the story I started in that novel or write something completely unrelated.

But I love the characters and the situation, so I’ll probably go with the former. We’ll see.

Talk with you again soon.
