Apropos of nothing, I thought I’d share this little bit of wisdom from a friend’s post on Facebook from a week or so ago.
One more glaring example of why natural selection is a thing.
Yesterday, after I posted the Journal (that’s always the first hour or two of the day) I was about to start on the novel.
Then I decided to apply the fixes recommended by two of my first-readers to my previous novel.
I usually wait until I have all the input back, but I made an exception since my previous novel leads directly into the one I’m writing now.
Fortunately, there were no glaring errors. Several wrong-word typos and one major overusage of a favorite word. (grin) All fixed now.
Then I got into a chat with one of those first-readers. That was enjoyable. Alhough we’ve never met, as it turns out we have mutual friends. Thanks, Russ J. I enjoyed it.
After all of that and two or three breaks, I almost decided to make yesterday a nonwriting day. I didn’t, but early in the day writing was like pulling teeth. (Yes, we all have those days.) Fortunately, I kept coming back and the story broke loose again. The results are in Day 5 below.
Today I’ll write. Slim (but good) pickings in “Of Interest” today. Here at the Hovel, I’m turning to the novel. Have a safe (and sane) day.
Just a thought—if this story keeps running, I might well finish it before the end of this month. If I do, I’ll be back on track with my novel goal.
