Well, sometime or other I slipped from thinking it would be nice personally to finish 6 novels in the first quarter of the year to “trying” to make it happen. That’s conscious mind crap. And as a result, I had a non-writing day yesterday, the second one for this novel.
I actually wrote probably 5,000 words yesterday in fits and starts (“trying”) and ended up deleting them all. I knew while I was writing them they were coming from me instead of the characters.
Today I’ll back up and start again, just running through the story with the characters, watching and listening to them as the story unfolds. And the story will end when it ends.
Watch out for the conscious mind. It’s a killer.
