The Journal, Monday, September 24

Hey Folks,

A LOT in “Of Interest” today. I even added a couple of them to my website Writer Resources page.

Absolutely nothing to report from yesterday. But this morning, after spending a couple of days getting over this cold or whatever it is, I feel better enough that I can at least think.

I mentioned a few days ago that I received a copyedit. It’s a re-edit, so it shouldn’t be all that difficult. Since it’s also prepaid, I’m going to set everything else aside and work on that until it’s finished. Some reshuffled priorities, in light of my current situation.

The copyedit shouldn’t take more than a few to several days, depending on how long I can go at it each day.

As I’m doing that, I’ll also read and judge the entries I received a few days ago for a short-short fiction contest. It probably will be my last one. In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t agreed so quickly. Probably my quick response was a holdover from the days when I was a regular conference speaker. (grin)

The third item in “Of Interest” today is kind of interesting. But maybe more in the US than anywhere else, it’s incumbent on responsible citizens that we decide which “laws” we choose to ignore because they’re simply ludicrous. Blind obedience has never been my strong suit.

For example, I occasionally collect shed feathers from my yard, but I don’t use them to adorn my hats. Neither am I going to toss them out just because some bureacrat somewhere is laboring under an overwhelming sense of self-righteousness.

Talk with you again soon.
