Hey Folks,
I’ve gotten in the almost-habit of turning out one long story per month, novel or novella. I don’t have a firm goal in that direction. It just sort of happens.
That hybrid-novel-wrapped-around-ten-short-stories I wrote last month kind of screwed me up, I think. The process was so back-and-forth, so unintuitive, it addled my widdle bwain. Even my subconscious is reeling.
But excuses aside, if I want to stay even close to turning out a long story every month, I need to get back on the stick.
I have another Stern Talbot P.I. story in mind. Those usually come in short at 40,000 to 50,000 words (easily able to finish it this month), so I guess I’ll have to write an opening and see where it goes.
I still have the copyedit to finish, of course. And actually, although copyediting is work it’s also almost as big a release for me as writing is. Especially when I know the writer is eager to learn.
So probably I’ll stick only to the copyedit through the weekend, then start writing fresh on Monday morning. If I finish the Stern Talbot thing on or about 30 June, that will give me 6 novels in 6 months on the year and I’ll be back on track.
After that I have some big things planned. And no, I’m still not sure where D.R.E.A.D. will fit into all of this. Stay tuned.
