The Journal, Thursday, December 6

Hey Folks,

Tomorrow is Pearl Harbor Day, though I think, sadly, it’s no longer taught in schools. Here’s a quote for the day:

The carrier Enterprise sailed into Pearl Harbor the day after the attack. Surveying the wreckage from the bridge, Adm. William Halsey could not hide his anger. “When this war is over the Japanese language will be spoken only in hell.”

For an excellent article about that fateful day, see https://nationalinterest.org/feature/why-japan-failed-pearl-harbor-18638.

Wow. Remember I released Book 2 of the Nick Spalding series, Transitions, back in November?

One of my donors, a voracious reader, sent me an email late yesterday afternoon. In part it read,

Transitions is in desperate need of a session with spell check. Also, it looks like you hadn’t decided whether to indicate some of the distances in yards or meters….

I looked, and of course, he was right. How embarrassing.

I checked my files and realized I had uploaded the wrong version. Of course, I quickly rectified the error.

If any of you received that flawed version, either from me or through a purchase, please let me know and I’ll send the new one free of charge.

On the up side, the reader also wrote

The [Nick Spalding] books are good. They held my attention and the protagonist had my loyalty. But have to say, although I liked these, I love your detective stories and will always compare everything else to them.

Guess I need to write more detective stories. (grin) Good thing I have a dozen in print. Also, fortunately, my WIP comes under that heading.

Good writing day today. Not the best, but it’s only a half-day and I stopped in the middle of a fast-moving scene. (grin)

Talk with you again soon.
