The Journal, Tuesday, December 18

Hey Folks,

Wow. I stayed up to watch about 3/4 of the football game last night. It was difficult to watch the Saints pitted against both the Panthers and the referees (grin), so I finally gave up.

But by then it was late. I couldn’t sleep, so I stayed up even later and didn’t roll out this morning until almost 5. Ugh. So a late start to the day.

No Internet in the Hovel this morning, so I did the preliminary “Of Interest” stuff and this bit of the Journal up at the house with my first cup of coffee.

Excerpted from Linda Maye Adams’ newsletter:

“For years, I wondered exactly how you could be on a panel at a con. … I didn’t know you could ask, and when I did, I appeared at Chessiecon. … [F]ind the con you want … and submit 3-4 workshop topics, including one that hits your research specialties, [one that addresses the topic of the con, for example] science fiction, and [one that addresses] writing.”

Good advice. You can find Linda’s blog and sign up for her newsletter at https://lindamayeadams.com/.

For what it’s worth, the Kill Zone blog is on a two-week hiatus, to return on January 1. Ironically, the farewell advice was to “keep writing.” (grin)

Finally to the Hovel at 9, where I initially continued my morning prep. Another late start to the day.

I thought it might be interesting to see how it all turned out, but in the end it wasn’t interesting at all. Today was a no-starter. No fiction writing at all. Fortunately, that doesn’t happen to me very often. But hey, it happens, and if I’m gonna share, I want to share warts and all.

The story itself is fine, sitting there waiting for me to go at it again. No issues there. I’m not “stuck” or anything like that. I’ve had a couple of rough days on matters not related to writing. I think I just need to regroup.

Talk with you again soon.
