The Journal, Tuesday, May 8

Hey Folks,

Okay, a lot of stuff in “Of Interest” today re crime novels and thrillers and Amazon and other things. Crime Writer Sue Coletta is an excellent resource.

First some admin stuff…

Happy birthday to my eldest daughter, Audrey. Today is her 44th.

Thanks to all of you who remain subscribed to this Journal because you find it interesting, motivational, or educational. I probably haven’t said it for awhile, but I do appreciate you.

When I was still in the USMC a lifetime ago, I overheard two much older guys talking about ways to stay young.

One of them said something that has stuck with me all these years. He looked at his friend and said, “You’re a jarhead (slang for a Marine). If you want to stay young, you have to have a place to report.”

He was right, of course. So thanks to all of you for giving me a place to report.

That being said, I realize your time is limited. If you find these emails less than valuable in some way, please click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page.

Finally to the Hovel at around 8:30, where I realized during a few games of solitaire that I didn’t have my water or my flash drive or my cell phone.

Back to the house, then back to the Hovel around 9:30 to begin finishing the story from yesterday.

A little over 1200 words in the first session, then up to the house to check on the babies.

I figured I would finish the story I started yesterday in maybe an hour this morning. The protagonist had other ideas.

She kept getting more and more interesting, and every time I thought I’d caught up with her she’d duck around another corner.

The story finally wrapped at around 5100 words (I thought it would wrap at around 3000). Then I took another break at the house, then went back to the Hovel and wrote another intermission. So I’ve almost caught up with myself (grin).

See you soon.
