Hey Folks,
First (so I don’t forget), I have a late-morning appointment in Tucson tomorrow, so there might not be a Journal entry. The place is a couple hours away, so it blows a lot of the day.
Of course, I’m planning for it. I expect to get up early and write early, then make the rounds of the Internet afterward and file the Journal entry. We’ll see.

Saw an ad for a “writers retreat” for which registration is about to close. The cost is $40 to “hold your spot” and then an unadvertised amount due by the end of September.
I’m sure the balance is advertised in the brochure, which I haven’t read. But I’ll pass.
I went to one of those once, and I’ve conducted three of them.
At the one I attended, I was quickly dubbed a loner and somewhat antisocial because, when everyone else was hanging out chatting about writing, I was, you know, writing.
At the three I conducted, there was breakfast first. Then I taught a couple of classes on writing topics. Then there was lunch. And the rest of the day/evening was for writing.
One lady walked out of the first retreat I conducted halfway through the first day. Her complaint? There weren’t enough “activities” planned.
The other two went pretty well. By which I mean at least I wasn’t lynched for giving writers time to write.
As for me, well, I attend a writers retreat pretty much every day. It’s called The Hovel. I retreat from life-things there, and I write. When I’m through writing for the day, I come home.

Fair to middling day today. In three sessions I hammered out a little over 3000 words. The next scene is a gimme, and I was going to write it today, but I’m feeling a little under the weather so I think I’ll watch baseball instead.
