Given the length of the other books in this series (this is Book 4), I thought this novel might wrap today. That would mean I’d written a novel in 10 days. That would be one-half the shortest time it’s taken before.
With this one, the ten writing days also happen to be 10 calendar days. That feels really good.
Those are false goals, of course. What’s the difference in whether I write a novel in 10 days or 12 or 20?
None, really. The only difference is that I can get to the next story a little sooner. (grin)
But barring a miracle (and I’m certain the miracle-passer-outers have better things to concentrate on), this one probably won’t be finished for at least a few more days.
I don’t know all the ins and outs of what’s gonna happen, but I know I’m approaching the end.
You know the part of the movie where you think the bad guy is dead but then somehow he grabs your ankle while you’re celebrating his demise with your friends? That’s where I am right now.
So there’s still that scene, then the big climactic scene. (I look forward to whatever curve balls my characters will throw at me during that.) And, who knows, maybe another “grab your ankle” scene or two.
So we’ll see. I’m in no hurry.
