Hey Folks,
Hmm. Somehow, I was thinking Friday’s post was Saturday’s post and hadn’t gone out yet. So I amended Friday’s post. Mark it up to a very good case of exhaustion. Anyway, we didn’t get back until yesterday (Saturday) morning and then I didn’t post a Journal.
Not a lot going on today. Weird. The morning of the second day of the camping trip, I was jonesing for writing. From now on when I go, I’ll take my laptop along. Just in case.
But now I’m back, and this morning I didn’t feel like writing. Since it’s Sunday, I probably won’t write today. I’ll start fresh tomorrow. I figure write two or three more novels before I start my first thriller. It’s a developing process.
I have the pacing down tight. I know cliffhangers and openings, and I know how to ground the reader (and to what level) in order to keep the novel progressing while keeping the reader deep in the story. What I’m missing currently is scope.
For a thriller, the scope has to be huge. Basically worldwide, or at least spanning the nation. Much depends on the situation. The more psychological suspense is involved, the smaller the physical scope can be, and vice versa.
But today will be a day of rest. I’ll make a few additions/deletions/changes to the novella I just finished, then publish it and get it out to my donors. Otherwise, I probably won’t do much that’s even peripheral to writing.
