Hey Folks,
First session today, I hit only a little over 1200 words. If I didn’t have an edit to do, I might finish my WIP today, but I think I’ll stick to the schedule of switching from one to the other.
One problem with writing my own stuff while I’m editing for someone else is that I’m tempted to stay in the chair longer than I should when I’m writing. I feel pressured (a little) to get as much writing done as I can.
That was the case this morning.
This morning I got to the Hovel at 8:30 and didn’t leave it until 10:15. No break. In that time, I separated the novel “intermissions” from the rest of the stories so I could get a better sense of the flow.
Then I cycled back through the whole thing, allowing myself to touch it here and there as I went. Finally, I plugged all the updated intermissions back into the WIP.
When the smoke cleared, I have one intermission left to write, and then I have to write the last third or half of the final story and i’m done.
Some days ago I also wrote either an introduction or “writer’s notes” kind of thing, but I don’t know whether I’ll include it in the final collection.
The intro (or writer’s notes) contained a lot about the process of writing this odd duck, and I wrote it mostly for other writers. Can’t stop teaching, I guess. Or trying to.
I probably won’t know whether I’ll actually include it until just before I publish the thing.
Anyway, if I don’t finish the WIP today, I’ll finish it tomorrow.
On a break at the moment. Then one more session, then editing for the rest of the day. So we’ll see how it goes.
Well, I added around 500 more words in a short session, then up to the house to edit.
