The Journal: An Exciting Time and Short Story Done

The next few weeks will be an exciting time for me.

To start it off, I have to write a short story today to meet this week’s goal. (grin) Yep, I put it off again. I think I did that (subconsciously) because it makes meeting my goal more of a challenge. No idea at the moment what I’ll write about.

And as I mentioned here recently, I suspect toward the end of February or early March, the current weekly blog post at my author site (HarveyStanbrough.com) will transition to a less-frequently posted blog (newsletter) for readers.

To that end, I’ll look for a “banner” plugin to put up over there. The banner will request new subscribers in exchange for a free ebook or ebooks.

I’m also planning to compile an omnibus collection that will include the first novel in each of my series, or at least one book in each genre in which I write. That’s probably what I will offer new subscribers.

And of course I’ll need to write a few new blog posts for over there and decide the frequency for posting. I’m thinking twice each month: once to address my characters or storylines (without giving away too much) and once to announce new releases.

Through all of this, the Journal will remain a site for writers. But I’ll add a banner here too to attract new subscribers, and I’ll offer a free nonfiction book (or books) on writing. When that happens, any current subscribers who also want the book can email me for a free copy.

So as you can see, I have my fun cut out for me for the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

I wrote a short story, and the epigraph for it comes from one of my novels, Confessions of a Professional Psychopath, which I wrote way back in early 2015. Kind’a tickled me to write a short story about the younger brother of old Charles Claymore “Charlie” Task. (grin)

I’ll spend the rest of the day with my wife as we absorb the loss of our friend and yesterday’s funeral. That and possibly working on the stuff outlined in the first few paragraphs above.

Talk with you again soon.

  1. I’m so sorry about your friend. We’ve lost too many loved ones to cancer. We have a friend suffering from breast cancer right now as well, and I hate it so much.

    • Yep. In all its forms, cancer is the worst, most widespread disease I can think of. The government finds (our) money for everything else. I wish they’d throw it at a goal of curing this terrible plague.

  2. I like your idea of an omnibus featuring different series.

I’m reporting in. Not too happy with my word count, but it will only be up from here. I’m looking forward to February and a new month!
