Quotes of the Day

“Reading at meals is considered rude in polite society, but if you expect to succeed as a writer, rudeness should be the second-to-least of your concerns. The least of all should be polite society and what it expects. If you intend to write as truthfully as you can, your days as a member of polite society are numbered anyway.” Stephen King

“When an author discovers coherence for the first time, they will experience a place where words melt away, and the only thing that remains is a deep knowing and trust in how the story will take shape.” Hunter Liguore, SFWA

Note: As DWS has said many times, Stage 1 and 2 writers worry about words. More advanced writers know that Story, not words, is what matters.

See Nate Hoffelder’s newsletter. Two free writers’ conferences are online TODAY. For details, click https://preview.mailerlite.com/t3h6d7/1401451759636845917/j8u7/. If it can happen for them, it can happen for you. Just keep putting your work out there.

Yesterday, because I rolled out early, I got to the novel at 2:30 a.m. Amazing. I hoped to get a lot done, but after the first several hours I took a break and did some things around the yard. Which is fine. No reason to rush.

I wound up getting about halfway through Chapter 29 for the day and added only the net numbers shown in Day 5 below.

Not sure why I broke down the numbers by session yesterday. Maybe because I’m cycling through the whole book. (grin)

Today, I rolled out at the more reasonable hour of 2 a.m. and finally got back to the story at 3:30.

Talk with you again soon.
