Writing with Depth and Advanced Depth

A few years ago (June 2016) I took Dean’s Writing with Depth workshop. I’m not exaggerating when I say my writing took a massive leap forward as a result. It was a real eye-opener re writing openings and immediately pulling the reader into the story.

But it was so amazing that afterward I wondered how much more I could learn—how much more I could improve my work—by taking the Advanced Depth workshop.

Yesterday, prodded by his 50% off sale, I made the leap and signed up for Advanced Depth. Honestly, I expected to find that I already knew most of what he would teach in the workshop.

Without going into any proprietary detail, let me just say this: I was wrong.

The Advanced Depth workshop is by far the best, most in-depth workshop I’ve ever taken from Dean. It is nothing short of incredible.

As he often does, Dean drops dozens of gems along the way, and that’s only in the first two weeks worth of videos. (I was so excited about it, I actually set my novel to the side and watched the first three weeks’ videos, which caught me up with the rest of the class.)

I can’t recommend this workshop strongly enough.

Of course, Writing with Depth is a prerequisite for this one. In fact, if you read and enjoy my stories or novels and feel you’re pulled into the story, that’s a direct result of my having taken Writing with Depth.

So if you have the funds available (or can make them available), and if you want your writing to take a HUGE leap forward, at present you can sign up for both workshops for a total of $300 (meaning both for half price, meaning you’re basically getting one workshop free).

And again, I can’t recommend it strongly enough. And no, I don’t get any kind of affiliate fee or kickback.

It’s up to you, of course, and I’ll say no more about it. But trust me, folks, if becoming a professional fiction writer is important to you, this is a truly safe bet.

Yesterday I listened to the first three weeks of the workshop and got myself caught up. Then I wrote, but only a little. A late winter storm moved in and brought strong, distracting winds and nasty, cold, wet weather. After a while, I decided to call it a day early. So no words to report from yesterday.

This morning I wrote the short story that’s due this Saturday. Taking a break. I expect to write more on the novel later today.

Talk with you again soon.

  1. Love the quote.

I just read the Kris Ruche blog post. I’m not sure what to think in terms of how to plan for the future. Any ideas? Write more books?

    • Thanks, Diane. I’m not sure what you mean about being not sure what to think re planning. If you’re still with your traditional publisher, at least part of your future will be determined for you. On the self-pub side, definitely write more books (given that you still enjoy storytelling).

As pro writers, we’re almost morbidly situated to deal with crises like the current mess. Maybe branch out and try writing other genres that interest you, etc. Email me if you want. I’d be happy to give you my two cents worth. (grin)
